Waterloo park Star Party.

We are looking to have a fall Star Party - Dates to be announced when the Park is booked.

Venus Transit.

June 5, 2012

What an increadable event!
We had over 1000 show up to view the Transit.  The weather was good with only a few clouds at the start.  Thanks to U of W for hosting and all the member who came out with their scopes.

The event details were:

We are planning a public event, with the University of Waterloo to view this once in a life time event.  Venus will directly pass in front of the Sun.  Club members will be set up with proper solar viewing equipment for public viewing of this event.

Location: University of Waterloo, BMH Green, 43.472975, -80.54235, on the grass west of Mathematics 3 building, 200 meters south of the intersection of Columbia St W and Hagey Blvd.

Time:
5:00 - 5:30 Lecture - Must register with UofW Astronomy since seating is limited.
5:30 - Club members to be setup.
6:03 - Transit begins
8:30 - Observing ends (too low in horizon)
9:30 - Sunset.

Parking is available either on campus (pay per park) or near by businesses that won't notice you are there since it is after hours.

For Club members who want to observe or take pictures of this event, the Lisa Lyn Observatory will be open in Baden.  Contact Gerry Bissett for more information & directions.

Conestogo Lake Picnic & Star Party.

Saturday July 28.

We will be holding our Summer Picnic at Conestogo Lake observing site and follow it with a Star Party.  It replaces the July 101 meeting.  This event is open to club members and families.  The campers are invited to attend the Star Party.  We have the pavilion booked for the BBQ
